As a result of experimentation and a process of refining and repeating techniques I have been able to develop a method of bonding gold to a base of silver wire by adapting ancient metal working techniques such as keom-boo and contemporary industrial practices such as sintering. This technique goes a large way in allowing me to achieve in wire, some of the expression and fluidity which can be found when drawing and painting. Mixing my own gold alloys helps with this giving me a wider colour palette not restricted by what is available to purchase commercially. My creative drive is propelled by interactions between the material properties and memories of visual inspiration such as landscape and the patterns found within the landscape day to day. Each piece is built up directly in a ‘collage’ of metal until the finished piece is achieved.
